About Us

What to expect

Refresh Chiropractic is a place where excellent service is a priority and we strive to make you feel comfortable and “at home”. The first visit to Refresh Chiropractic will be approximately 45 minutes in duration. This allows the Chiropractor to perform a health history and physical exam in order to diagnose the problem. The Chiropractor will then explain the likely diagnosis and the appropriate management. If the condition is able to be treated by Chiropractic, a treatment will be performed on the first visit. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to all your treatment visits. Other essentials to bring with you are your health insurance card (if you are covered for Chiropractic), any relevant previous imaging such as x- rays/CT/MRI, and the results of any recent investigations such as blood tests. The subsequent visits are 15 minutes in duration. This time is mainly spent on the Chiropractic treatment, with follow-up questions and further examination if required. Advice and exercises may also be prescribed.

Meet the Chiropractors

Dr. Tamara

Dr Tamara graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science, Bachelor of Chiropractic BSc(Chiro)BChiro in 2010. Dr Tamara established Refresh Chiropractic with a mission to provide the local community with quality, evidence-based chiropractic care, with a focus on the person as an individual with unique health needs. She believes that the best outcomes for health come from a collaborative approach, with an equal input from the chiropractor and from the patient. Dr Tamara also has strong working relationships with the GPs and health professionals at East Road Family Medical Centre and those in the surrounding community, to provide a comprehensive approach to health care for her patients.

“Since becoming a chiro I’ve had the benefit of assisting people to reach their health goals, whether it be reducing the amount of pain they’re experiencing or helping them to do everyday activities with less difficulty and improving quality of life. I believe chiropractic can make a huge difference in a person’s life and it’s rewarding to be a part of that. I value each person who comes to my clinic and am passionate about providing evidence-based care alongside advice and lifestyle recommendations to prevent future episodes of pain. The clinic is a friendly, caring place where you can feel relaxed and at home. Listening is the key and I base each treatment around the individual’s comfort and preferences.”

Dr Tamara’s treatment modalities include: *Diversified technique (manual adjustments) * Low force chiropractic techniques including joint mobilisation, drop piece, activator and biomechanical blocking * Soft tissue therapies including trigger point, deep tissue massage and stretching * Rehab exercises, she also has a basic knowledge of AUSLAN and is currently studying the language as part of her effort to also teach and communicate with her gorgeous toddler daughter, Jade.

Dr. Emma

Dr Emma graduated from Murdoch University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and a Bachelor of Chiropractic.

What she loves about chiropractic is the ability to help people in a holistic way, with the goal to get to the root cause of a problem rather than just treating the symptoms.

She is passionate about promoting wellness and preventative based care and focuses on tailoring treatments to the needs and goals of the individual.

She uses a variety of techniques in addition to traditional chiropractic adjustments, including drop piece, activator, soft tissue therapies, and is certified in dry needling.

While Dr Emma enjoys treating patients of all ages and a variety of conditions, she has a special interest in family practice and has developed a passion for treating children and babies.

She has continued to further her education in this field, completing a variety of courses focused on paediatric development and treatment techniques. In 2015 she attained a Certificate in Chiropractic Paediatrics, a 12-month program that enhanced her knowledge on treating children from infancy right through the teenage years.

She strongly believes that starting chiropractic care at a young age can have an amazing impact on the developing body, with the aim that early intervention will help prevent the development of chronic issues in the teenage and adult years.

Dr Emma also has a strong interest in women’s health and pregnancy care and has attended numerous courses which have given her the skills and knowledge to assess and treat women from pre-conception right the way through the pregnancy journey and beyond.

When she’s not working Dr Emma tries to maintain an active lifestyle and enjoys reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her family and friends.
