Refresh Chiropractic - Where high quality Chiropractic care meets affordability

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care discipline primarily for disorders of the muscles and joints and the effects that these disorders have on the nervous system and general health. The philosophy behind Chiropractic is not only treatment but prevention and patient education. Chiropractors are registered health practitioners and undergo university qualification. One of the primary methods of treatment is the adjustment. An adjustment is the application of a specific high velocity, low amplitude force in a precise direction to a joint (usually by hand) in order to restore its function. The adjustment decreases muscle spasm and causes pain relief to the associated area. At Refresh Chiropractic, the Chiropractor also utilizes Soft Tissue Techniques to enhance the effects of the adjustment by addressing muscular dysfunction. Rehabilitative exercises are also prescribed according to the patient’s needs. These exercises prevent future episodes of pain by strengthening and increasing flexibility.

Can chiropractic help my condition?

  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Jaw pain
  • Low back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Elbow pain
  • Postural strain
  • Hip Pain
  • Arthritis

Is it safe?

In the words of the New Zealand Government’s Inquiry, chiropractic care is “remarkably safe.” Chiropractic has an excellent safety record. It is the result of a conservative approach to health that avoids invasive procedures or addictive drugs.1

In relation to the treatment of neck and back pain, studies have shown that a course of chiropractic care was 250 times safer than a course of anti-inflammatory drugs.2

Will it hurt?

Most adjustments will not cause any pain, but a pressure felt over the area of the adjustment. Soft tissue therapy may cause some pain, however not more than you would experience with a massage. The Chiropractor encourages you to provide feedback in your treatment so that you are as comfortable as possible.

Sometimes soreness will occur after a treatment because the joints and muscles are adapting to the treatment. The soreness should not last more than a few days. Please inform the Chiropractor if this occurs or if you have any concerns.
